Nanotechnology is the science that deals with the creation of structures, i.e. structures at the level of individual atoms and particles in order to control structures at the molecular level. Nanotechnology as a field of science was born in the mid-twentieth century and revolutionized the global economy of the world. It is estimated that the level of nanotechnology and nanosciences will determine the position of a given country in the global economy. Such a great importance of nanotechnology results from the more and more extensive possibilities of learning about phenomena on the nano scale, which have a potentially huge commercial application.Already in 2006, a report was prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, in which the subject of the development strategy of nanosciences and nanotechnologies in Poland was discussed. The basis of this plan was to support research in the field of: devices, processes and phenomena in the nanoscale, nanomaterials, nanostructures and the development of technological and analytical devices necessary to implement strategic research directions. The main reason for developing the concept was the need to take an influential place in the global economy and catch up with global technological competition. In order to accelerate the development of nanotechnology in Poland, it was decided to increase its funding and improve the education and research system, which made Poland currently at the forefront in terms of, among others: nanolayers, nanocoatings, semiconductor nanostructures, nanometals and nanocomposites polymer.
